REDUCE YOUR RISK OF MAL-ILLUMINATION

...the indoor epidemic

Nutritional Light Technology™ —The fullest-spectrum therapeutic light that includes a broad band of 5 differnt wavelengths of near infrared (NIR) light and a trace of UV. All-day —personal ambient light— to "shower" the user much like a grow light showers a plant. Unlike common "therapy-only" devices, bioBulbs provide photo-nutritious light all day long where you live and work.

NOTE: SOLshine is 'universal voltage' and does not require a voltage converter, however the wall plug is USA and international orders may require an inexpensive plug adapter that is NOT supplied.

More About SOL bioBulb™ — All-Day Light Nutrition

Built on Dr. Ott's Foundation

Dr. John Nash Ott's foundational discovery was simple but profound: living cells require continuous, complete-spectrum light as a daily nutritional requirement. Not occasional therapy—daily nutrition, the way food nourishes your body.

The bioBulb operationalizes this insight. Rather than delivering only bright morning therapy and leaving you in mal-illuminated environments the rest of the day, the bioBulb can be positioned overhead and provides consistent full-spectrum light "showering" wherever you spend time: workspace, reading corner, bedroom, kitchen. This continuous exposure is the mechanism Ott documented as essential for reducing risk of dis-ease, and enhancing immune health.

The bioBulb design:

  • All-day positioning – Morning bright light therapy or ambient, photo nutritious task lighting that provides maximum visual acuity.
  • Full-spectrum + NIR architecture – Enhanced red (98 CRI), five NIR wavelengths, trace UV—the fullest spectrum akin to sunshine.
  • Non-intrusive delivery – Unlike common bright light therapy panels, the bioBulb can be positioned for all-day use to "shower" the user much like a grow light showers a plant.

Learn more: Dr. John Nash Ott: Pioneer of Full-Spectrum Light and Photobiology

The fundamental problem Ott identified was not just "people don't get enough light"—it was "modern environments deliver light that lacks the spectrum living cells require." The bioBulb solves this by providing the fullest-spectrum light akin to natural sunshine.

Primary use case: Ambient light throughout your day. You spend ~16 hours indoors in environments with incomplete light spectra (office fluorescents, home incandescents, screens). The bioBulb addresses this by providing continuous, full-spectrum exposure—not as occasional therapy, but as daily light nutrition.

Ideal for:

  • Personal workspace lighting
  • People who want continuous light nutrition
  • Anyone living in environments with consistent mal-illumination (fluorescent offices, windowless rooms, dimmed home lighting)
  • Enhancing visual acuity and color rendering

Reduced disease risk – Ott documented that continuous full-spectrum light exposure throughout the day enhanced health and reduced the risk of disease.

Circadian rhythm synchronization – SOL bioBulbs are SAD Rated 10,940 LUX @ 2'

Cellular energy production (ATP) – NIR wavelengths (780–900 nm) are absorbed by mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase, generating ATP—cellular fuel. The bioBulb's five NIR wavelengths directly support mitochondrial function throughout your day, providing continuous energy production support rather than occasional intervention.

Retinal health and repair – Red light and NIR prime retinal cells for repair and regeneration. Because the bioBulb provides consistent red spectrum exposure (98 CRI, R9 at 97 CRI), it reduces chronic retinal inflammation from mal-illumination—a benefit that accumulates with daily use.

Metabolic regulation – Dr. Alexander Wunsch, MD, PhD: "The vast majority of the energy your body needs to maintain systemic equilibrium comes from environmental infrared light exposure." The bioBulb's consistent NIR delivery throughout your day directly supports this metabolic necessity.

What you need to know: The bioBulb is designed primarily as a PERSONAL therapeutic, nutritional light.  This makes "continuous light nutrition" practical: you can provide Ott's principle of daily, consistent full-spectrum light without special equipment.

Product-specific questions? See below.

Q: Can I use the bioBulb in any light fixture?

A: The bioBulb uses a standard Medium E26/E27 base, so it fits any fixture designed for floodlight PAR38 style bulbs: lamps, overhead cans, track lighting, clip-on holders. The main consideration is lux output—at 10,940 lux @ 2 feet, you'll want the bulb positioned at a distance where you spend time (above a desk, in a reading lamp, at typical room height). Positioning it too far away reduces the therapeutic benefit.

Q: Is the bioBulb dimmable?

A: No. The bioBulb is on/off only. Dimming changes the spectrum and reduces the photobiological impact.

Q: How long does the bioBulb last?

A: 30,000 hours—roughly 10+ years of typical daily use.

"We are all light deficient and this deficiency may be the source of our physical and emotional problems."
